Position Summary: We're looking for a Lead Electrician who wants to make an impact.
In this role, you'll lead the electrical execution of custom automation projects while partnering with mechanical designers, controls engineers, project managers, and machine builders from concept through customer startup. You'll guide project planning, mentor and develop electricians, coordinate electrical builds across multiple projects, and help ensure every machine meets Mission's standards for quality, safety, and performance.

Location: Full-time, hourly position onsite in Holland, MI. Standard shop hours are 7am-3:30pm.
Compensation & Benefits: Pay: $28-$36 per hour, based on experience.

What You’ll Do: As an Electrician at Mission Design & Automation, you will:
Lead the electrical build, installation, and commissioning of multiple custom automation projects from concept through customer startup
Plan, organize, and control the electrical build process and related costs
Mentor and train entry level Electricians by sharing best practices, developing technical skills, and providing guidance throughout projects
Collaborate with machine builders, mechanical designers, and controls engineers to install, repair, and rebuild electrical systems for custom automation equipment
Build high-quality control panels and machine wiring that is in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Interpret electrical schematics to effectively and safely build, wire, and troubleshoot automation equipment
Communicate project status, milestones, technical challenges, labor hours, budget concerns, and resource needs with the Electrical Manager, Project Managers, and cross-functional teams
Assist Controls Engineers with electrical design improvements, component selection, and evaluating new products and vendor solutions.
Document electrical modifications and communicate machine changes to cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle to ensure accurate project records and successful collaboration
Coordinate machine tear-downs and installations, helping deliver reliable equipment that performs as designed
Take ownership of your portion of each project, making decisions and solving challenges independently while collaborating with an experienced team for support
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace where every team member can do their best work
What You Bring: Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent certification
5+ years of electrical experience (automation background preferred)
Experience leading electrical projects or coordinating electrical work across multiple projects
Experience interpreting electrical schematics, machine wiring, panel building, and troubleshooting
Demonstrated technical aptitude with focus on safety and quality
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Excel
Ability to work in industrial environments (lift 50lbs as required, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, climbing beneath machines, etc.)
Ability to obtain Hi-Lo, aerial platform, and/or overhead crane licenses
Ability to provide your own hand tools (tool purchase program available)
Preferred Qualifications:
Vocational or technical electrical education
State of Michigan Electrical Journeyman’s license
Experience with custom automation, machine design, or manufacturing systems
Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing junior electricians.
